F.A.Q.

Below you'll find answers to some of the most common questions we get about the Skellig Star Party

We aim to have the Skellig Star Party in August every year. Our general rule of thumb is to hold the star party on the weekend closest to the new moon. The specific dates will be updated on the frontpage and on Facebook.

We hold our star party every year in the IDA approved Dark Sky Reserve in Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry in the wild and wonderful South-West of Ireland. Click HERE for directions to Ballinskelligs, Co. Kerry.

Once you get to Ballinskelligs, there are two main locations you need to know about;

The main event, observing, and charity barbeque take place at the Skellig Lodge & Hostel. Click HERE for directions.

The Skellig Star Party talks take place in the Ballinskelligs Community Hall. Click HERE for directions.

There are many options for accommodation near where the Skellig Star Party is held.

Skellig Lodge & Hostel

Rooms are available at the star party venue every year. However, the rooms fill up quickly and booking in advance is recommended. You can book a room and find out more about the Lodge HERE.

Nothing! It’s free to anyone who wants to attend. This includes our talks.

We help fund the cost of speakers and running the event by providing attendees options to purchase merchandise and raffle tickets. We also hold a Charity BBQ where all funds raised (by way of donation by attendees) go directly to a chosen charity.

At the moment we are not taking bookings for any part of the star party.
